September 24, 2012 (New York, NY) – FUNK, the youngest event production brainchild to premiere in New York, will be launching this Saturday, September 29, at Highland Park (206 E. 34th Street) with ‘FUNK that’ featuring DJ Mursi Layne, DJ Haruka Salt 999, and DJ Angel Boi.

With the help and love of some of the dopest DJ’s in the city, the creators have orchestrated a special night to let NYC know what FUNK is all about: good music, good people, and good times. “FUNK that” is about to give a taste of spectrums of FUNK from all over: Reggae to mash-ups and dub-step, classic Hip Hop and R&B oldies to Baltimore club and House. FUNK is not one bass line or one groove, it’s that feeling you get when a good song comes on and you can’t help but move. Those who tune in to FUNK can be sure to find a taste for something that keeps with the wave of where they want their evenings to go.

DJ Mursi Layne shares her feelings about FUNK: “I have DeeJayed for parties all over the city and loved every one, because there is a different vibe and energy with each crowd. But what is special about FUNK is that it’s all about putting that positivity and good vibrations in one space. Not attempting to appeal to any particular crowd or borough, but to like-minded people who just want to have a good time.”

DJ Angel Boi shares her feelings about FUNK: “It’s always fun to DeeJay a new party, but what I love about FUNK is that it’s all about good energy, which is something I feed off of when I am DeeJaying. A good party can give you life, and I think FUNK is definitely about to bring it.”

FUNK fashions their events with queers and lesbian women in mind who want to be surrounded by beautiful people, great music, and a space and vibe that provides the option to let loose to a dance groove or have a sit-down with a new friend over a few preferred spirits. This is the first of many events to come for FUNK, and they are excited to invite the people of New York to hit up something new this Saturday night to get a taste of what they have to offer.

“FUNK that” will open its doors at 10:30pm with drink specials until 1am. There will also be bottle and table service options all night upon request. Entry is $10.00 for all guests 21+ with a valid photo ID.

It seems that 2012 has been the year for Queer Artists. The Peculiar Kind would like to say… About damn time! But seriously, Art is art and whether you’re queer, straight, red, brown or green, if your art is great, people will relate ( We write rhymes too.)
