Trinidad and Tobago native now Brooklyn resident, DJ Mursi Layne is one of New York City’s hottest female deejays to grace the ones and twos. She demonstrates enthusiasm for her craft through her risky blending techniques. As a self-taught deejay, Mursi Layne is known for playing eclectic sets to include Indie, Baltomore Club, Dub-Step, Reggae, Soca, House and Classics. With over 8 years of experience in the industry, she prefers to stay true to the original method of deejaying by using two turntables and a mixer. Her keen ear for music and down-to-earth personality has helped her build her brand both globally and commercially.
Her skills have caught the attention of club promoters in Bahrain and the Middle East, where she has deejayed for Tempo Night Clubs grand opening, the Kings Palace in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Brazil Lounge, Red Bull Freestyle Soccer and the F1 Grand Prix.
She has also been turning up the heat at some of New York’s hot spots and events to include Top Shop, Madewell, Public Assembly, Kush Lounge, Adidas, Stay Lounge, NYSC (New York Sports Club), The Delancy and fundraiser events with The American Cancer Society.
DJ Mursi Layne’s reputation extends beyond her music. She is the co-founder of The Artchitects, a company that provides services such as videography, photography, music production and more. The Artchitects are currently filming Mix, Match & Blend; a documentary about female deejays and The Peculiar Kind; a web series for and about queer women of color.
With a desire to share her knowledge, DJ Mursi Layne is also a teachers assistant to some of the worlds top deejays and music producers at Dubspot, a DJ and music production school in New York.
